Hello Members:
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! It has been a very trying year for our club but it has also been a very productive one . The current board has more than doubled our Treasury in the past two years, the Winter Classics have continued to be a success and we have associated our club with a national club that was helpful in getting us coverage for the music we play for our lessons on Tuesday and our parties we have during the year. With this BMI, ASCAP & SESAC coverage we no longer have to worry about being fined thousands of dollars for playing music in public. We have received this coverage through the National Fast Dance Association for a very low price and hope to continue doing all we can to keep our club on the “good side of the news”. The NFA puts out an exceptional newsletter quarterly, if you would be interested in receiving their newsletter please e-mail bill@mtstec.net with Newsletter in the subject line.
Several of our members have volunteered to teach Shag Dancing in our school system, at the Library, to cast members at the theaters, events put on for Belfair Homeowners Association, Port Royal Homeowners Association and the National Association of Convenience Store Owners at their annual convention. Thanks to our terrific instructors and members that have volunteered their time to help promote Shag Dancing in our community.
Our Annual Members Meeting is January 10th, at Remy’s 6:00 PM. Lessons will run a little late this night as they will start immediately following the meeting. The only thing on the Agenda is the Treasurer’s report and the Election which will not take long so please plan to attend, get involved in your club, and volunteer to help with committees. It makes things much easier when more people help.
I would like to thank all of the members that gave me their support during my terms in office, it was my pleasure working with this organization and now I look forward to turning the gavel over to the next President that is elected and offer my services in any way that I may be able to help move our club forward.
Ron and I wish you all a Happy New Year filled with fun dancing!!!!
See you on the Dance Floor,
Vicki Bruno
