SHAG CLASSES SUMMARY:
Basic 1
Teaches the seven steps that will allow you to dance the Carolina Shag for the rest of your life and be a "Shagger." The steps you learn will be a part of almost every routine or mirror step you learn in the future. It is very important to learn these steps correctly because they are the foundation of Shag.
Basic 2
Teaches additional steps to add to your dancing enjoyment with variety and learning to dance combination and mirror steps. Again, the steps and combinations you learn in Basic 2 will make you a better Shagger and prepare you for more combination steps and allow you to create your own routines.
Intermediate 1
This class builds on everything learned and teaches style, combination and mirror steps that both new and classic from hers gone by.
Intermediate 2
This is where "showboating" starts with more difficult combination steps and routines. You will use everything you have mastered in the three previous classes.
You must be a club member to take lessons.
Shag Lessons
Lessons are available at no charge to our members. Starting right after Labor Day and running into May, we meet at Remy's Bar & Grill, 130 Arrow Road on Hilton Head. Lessons range from beginner to advanced and start at 5:45.
LESSONS BEGIN THE FIRST TUESDAY OF SEPTEMBER AND CONTINUE TILL THE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING. LESSONS RESUME ON THE FIRST TUESDAY OF JANUARY FOLLOWING NEW YEARS DAY AND CONTINUE FOR 4 SIX WEEK SESSONS.
